What happens when a new member joins

When someone completes the form at https://ohs.org.uk/join and pays successfully:

• Their payment is processed and WordPress account is created immediately.
• They receive the automated welcome email.
• A notification is sent to website@ohs.org.uk.
• They can log in straight away and access member benefits.

Tip

You do not need to do anything. This process is fully automated.

Note

If payment fails they can still log in, but will not be recognised as an active member and cannot access benefits.

Is a “new member” notification brand new or a returning member?

Check the hidden Logged in user field in the new member alert email:

How to tell

• Logged in user (0) — brand new member, account just created.
• Logged in user (1) — existing user who has purchased a new membership.

Members retain their login credentials even after membership expires. They can still log in to view previous receipts, but the Member benefits tab is hidden until they purchase a new subscription.
